In Yorkville, NY, the homeowner faced a persistent issue with a wet basement, worrying about potential damage. As shown in the previous photo, the basement needed a reliable solution to stay dry, especially during heavy rains. At Woodford Bros., Inc., we equipped their basement with a TripleSafe Sump Pump and WaterGuard system. The TripleSafe system assures protection against pump failures and outages, while WaterGuard's discreet design effectively channels water away. Before the project, a homeowner in Utica, NY, contacted Woodford Bros., Inc. because they planned to finish their basement in the future and wanted to make sure the space was properly protected from water and moisture first. They understood that waterproofing the basement before beginning the finishing process would help create a more dependable environment for the future living space and reduce concerns about water intrusion. 

To prepare the basement, the Woodford Bros., Inc. team installed a FlowGuard interior drainage system along with a TripleSafe Sump system. FlowGuard helps collect and direct groundwater away from the basement, while the TripleSafe provides multiple levels of pumping protection to help keep water out of the space. After the installation, the basement had a comprehensive waterproofing system in place, giving the homeowner greater peace of mind as they plan to finish the basement and transform it into a comfortable, usable part of the home. 

Kelly's new home was perfect for her but there were some issues with the foundation. When the home was constructed part of the footer was not below the frost line. This can create problems caused by the freeze/thaw cycle. When the soil surrounding the footer is saturated with water in the colder seasons it is liable to freeze. Since water expands when it freezes it causes frost heave which has great potential to damage the home's foundation. Our solution to this problem is to excavate that part of the foundation, install specially engineered drainage called EZ Flow then install a completely inorganic insulation material called Silverglo that will prevent that part of the footer from being exposed to the damage-inducing ice. The soil is then placed back against the house so that it can be reseeded. Kelly now has peace of mind that her foundation is protected from the ever-present force of nature that is frost heave. 

Marietta has been living in her Oneonta, NY home for nearly five years. WaterGuard is a French drain system designed to be installed below the floor slab, resting on top of the foundation footing. The system then collects water that seeps through the basement walls and drains it to the sump pump. In turn, the TripleSafe Sump Pump provides the ultimate protection for wet basements, pumping up to 11,500 gallons or more on a fully charged battery. Finally, the CleanSpace system is a 100% waterproof plastic vapor barrier that is perfect for unfinished basement walls. Additionally, CleanSpace protects against humidity and mold growth. With this combination of systems, Marietta can rest assured that her basement is permanently waterproofed.
