A Design Specialist arrived at the home and recommended installing a radon system with 2 extraction points and sealing a couple of long cracks on the foundation wall and the basement floor.

This homeowner in New Durham, New Hampshire had gotten a radon test done at their home. The results came back at 19.8 pCi/L, which is very high. Design Specialist Jason Vachon came to the home and figured out where to install a new Radon Mitigation System. A homeowner in Newfields, NH had delayed testing their home for radon gas for a couple of years. Upon finally testing, they discovered radon levels between 9-12 pCi/L, which raised immediate health concerns. Radon is a leading cause of lung cancer and can severely impact long-term respiratory health. Ensuring the home was protected from radon gas became a top priority.

Our team at Erickson Foundation Solutions installed a radon mitigation system to address this issue. We created two extraction points in the foundation floor to draw out radon from the soil beneath the home. PVC pipes were connected to these extraction points to safely channel the gas outside. As the PVC pipe was routed to the exterior, a radon fan was installed to actively draw radon from the soil. The pipe extended up past the roofline, ensuring the radon was released far from any entry points of the home.

Additionally, a radon manometer was installed with the system to measure the fan’s effectiveness, providing a visual confirmation that the system is functioning correctly. The homeowner can now rest assured that their home is safeguarded from radon gas.

This homeowner in Newburyport, Massachusetts needed a radon mitigation system to help reduce the levels in their home. Design Specialist John Prince designed the most effective system, and Crew Lead Scott Crandall and his team installed the radon mitigation system in one day.

When the homeowners received the results from their radon test, they were shocked by the results. The radon test that they had purchased, came back with a radon reading of 52.9 pCi/L. After they saw the results, they decided to call EFS for a free inspection. 

Design Specialist Brian Swindell stopped by the home before the scheduled appointment. Brian dropped off a radon test to double-check the rating they previously had. Brian came back a couple of days later and checked the results of the radon test and then conducted his inspection of the home. The results of the test the EFS came back at 5.9 pCi/L. Brian recommended installing radon mitigation into the basement.
