This Ipswich, MA basement struggled with water infiltration through cold joints, as the previous owner's DIY sump system couldn't keep up. In the before photo, the sump pump failed to effectively manage moisture, posing a risk of leaks and mold. Our Erickson Foundation Solutions team provided a comprehensive, professional solution. After efficiently implementing our WaterGuard drainage system along the perimeter, we installed the TripleSafe sump pump, along with IceGuard for outstanding freeze protection. Lastly, the SaniDry Sedona was added to maintain ideal humidity levels. The result is a clean, dry and worry-free basement.

Before: This Ipswich, MA homeowner was experiencing ongoing water intrusion in both the basement and crawl space due to a high water table and landscape grading that directed groundwater toward the foundation. Water seeped into the basement through cold joints, leaving standing water on the floor and creating concerns about damage to stored belongings. In the crawl space, excess moisture saturated the existing insulation, causing it to lose effectiveness and pull away from the floor system. The damp environment also contributed to musty odors and poor indoor air quality throughout the home.

After: To provide complete protection from groundwater intrusion, our team installed a comprehensive waterproofing solution in both the crawl space and basement. In the crawl space, we installed drainage matting, SilverGlo® insulation, CleanSpace® encapsulation, and a SuperSump® system to manage moisture, improve energy efficiency, and create a healthier environment beneath the home. In the basement, we installed WaterGuard® interior drainage, TrenchDrain™ surface drainage at the bullhead entry, and a TripleSafe™ sump pump system to intercept and remove water before it could enter the living space. The systems were connected to a discharge line equipped with IceGuard® protection and routed safely away from the foundation.

Today, the homeowner enjoys a dry basement, a clean and encapsulated crawl space, warmer floors, improved indoor air quality, and peace of mind knowing their home is protected from water intrusion year-round.
