The client, Paige was super nice and has a baking business from home and even gave the tech on duty a cupcake. She and her husband moved into house last fall. She did two charcoal test kits, one in finished space of basement was the result was between 3-5 in storage room with sump pits. At the end she expressed some concern on levels and we discussed proper testing location and the tech gave her a charcoal test kit and instructed the ideal way of testing. The two sump pits in were in an unfinished storage room. One has exterior drain tile and one has no tile. Install domed lids on both. The tech made a sub slab extraction point on side wall next to plumbing stack and route up and exit through rim joist along mid point in wall. The main concern was Paige has bad allergies and is sensitive to mold. The team checked and found out she had high humidity reading in her basement and advised to take action with the right service team. Paige was happy to know about this and satisfied how her system turned out!
After years of home additions and changes, a couple decided it was time to address radon concerns and improve comfort where they sleep. Access to parts of the basement was limited, but a plan was crafted to make the most of the available entry points. A radon extraction point was installed through a storm door addition, and a second point was cored through a basement wall to reach a crawlspace beneath the master bedroom. Extra insulation was added to the rim joists in this area, helping to create a warmer, healthier environment where they spent much of their time. Despite the home’s complex layout and hidden crawlspaces, the custom mitigation solution provided peace of mind and noticeable improvements in air quality.
After losing her husband to lung cancer, this homeowner became deeply aware of the risks associated with radon exposure. When testing revealed high radon levels in her rental property, she knew action was needed to protect future tenants. Between renters, she took the opportunity to prioritize safety by scheduling radon mitigation. Knowing her efforts could prevent another family from facing the devastating effects of radon brought her peace of mind. For her, mitigation wasn’t just a precaution; it was a meaningful step in creating a safer, healthier space for others. Her story is a powerful reminder of radon’s silent danger.
This client knew her area had high radon levels but wanted to get a test first to make sure if her home is affected. Lo and behold, his levels returned higher than expected. He wanted to talk to his family about other options to mitigate and he did share all they said was to get a Radon Mitigation System installed with Iowa Radon Defense. Everything was discussed upfront, no hidden fees or charges or service. There was a dedicated space for the radon fan. Everthing turned out fine.
This family was hesitant to get a radon mitigation system installed as they lived a little far from Central Iowa. Then again, the team wanted to provide an extra mile this holiday season and took the booking. Everything was discussed and the proper set of expectation was provided. The client was happy on how the process was smoothly delivered from start to finish. They had radon levels around 9.0 pCi/L and now down to almost 90% -- 1.3 pCi/L!
