This was a virtual appointment due to the weather so the team has no idea what the house looks like. That being said this was pretty much a service call for the homeowner's radon fan only and nothing else. The homeowner told me that the fan had been making these weird and crazy noises on and off for the past year and it was finally time for him to get this taken care of. Should be pretty simple and straight to the point just replacing the piping and the old radon fan.
The technician made a work around for this home as the crawlspace was really tight and the homeowner wanted a single point system. Gladly, there was a sump basin to start with into the soffit. This was discussed with the client and there was a need of drilling an additional hole for the system to fit, client wasn't happy about it but didn't have much of a choice as the draft discussed was not possible due to the truss being there in the attic. The situation was settled, and the client was happy on how it turned out!
This installation was for a young couple that bought their first home. The amazing thing about their story is they had it tested for radon first before moving in. The results turned in 5.5 pCi/L and the home was just built early this year. They wanted the system to be installed in the basement since it's still in the process of finishing. It was not that hard and everything went well!
This client has been our regular from duct cleaning service and now made the decision she wanted a crawlspace encapsulation. He feels that dirt and debris is piling up too much and causing moist to go mold. We had discussed his options and he threw in a radon mitigation system too! It was a 1-point system and he did specifically requested if it could be near the crawlspace for protection. He had a really small basement with windows. The team made it work and customer is satisfied with the results!
We had a known competitor who worked in the basement of this client. They sold them a package and done terrible work. The customer was so pissed with the radon system and on other things they did for them. Last straw was them telling them waterproofing basement would help out with radon. The client had a 2 point system that is still measuring at radon levels of 9. Manometer was reading around a 4 and talked to them about adding another fan that was of higher suction power. They also asked if we could check the existing work over and make sure they dug the cavities out properly. We agreed and checked everything thoroughly, client really appreciated us going extra mile. In addition to that, they requested an ERV installation and it will be in the basement -- vented. They did specifically request if it's possible to have the ERV vent towards the left wall looking at the stairs. Nothing is possible, we made everything work! Client is happy and would recommend us to family and friends.
