Challenge: When it comes to repairing crawl spaces, people usually reach out to us for one or a combination of the following reasons:
Musty, funky smells
Excessive dampness or humidity in the home
High heating and cooling costs
Structural problems (such as sloping floors)
Cold floors
These homeowners in Port Lambton did not want to face another winter walking on icy cold floors in their home. The previous owners attempted to create a more efficient and comfortable home by installing rigid wall insulation to the exterior foundation walls and stuffing fibreglass insulation into the floor joists above… but these efforts are completely ineffective in an unsealed crawl space.
Solution: Our team encapsulated the crawl space, completely sealing it off from the outside environment. We then applied spray foam insulation to the exterior walls. The Canadian product we use is Polarfoam7300, it seals air leaks, preventing intrusion and providing insulation. It adheres permanently to all materials, is waterproof and won’t degrade, compress, or lose its R-value as other insulation types can.
Problem: These homeowners were experiencing the negative affects of a damp, musty crawl space throughout their entire home.
Solution: We sealed the vents, updated their existing sump pump and encapsulated the entire crawl space. Our CleanSpace Liner stops moisture from passing through the dirt floor and porous concrete walls.
Now the homeowners are enjoying a healthier home!

Problem: This dirt floor crawl space is allowing moisture into the home constantly with the earth being exposed. The humidity is high and there are odours in the main level of the home.
Solution: By installing an encapsulation system (moisture barrier) we can isolate the home from the earth. We also want to seal off all outside air. This space was also dehumidified to condition the air.

Problem: A dirt floor crawl space can cause many problems in a home. High humidity is an unhealthy environment and a breeding ground for mould and allergens, as well as damaging to organic structures such as wood beams, joists and flooring.
Solution: We completely sealed this crawl space with our heavy duty crawl space liner (so durable you can easily walk on it and store items on it) – now the crawl space is dry and clean.

Problem: This crawl space needed new support columns, an encapsulation system and a new access. The floors were saggy and the crawl space itself was in awful condition.
Solution: Install new supports to hold up the floors in the home. Put a sump pump in to relieve hydrostatic pressure beneath the ground and install a Turtl (crawl space access- see Photo Gallery). We cleaned out all organic material and the old insulation and encapsulated with our 20mm Clean Space.
