Basement Systems of New York was contacted to see how we could help this home in Highland, NY with its bowing wall issue in the homeowners' basement. After our specialist performed his analysis he realized that in order to undo the issue at hand that was caused by settlement we would need to pour a new 24" x 16" concrete footing. We then would construct a new block wall on top of it, which is properly reinforced with rebar and pinned to both sides of the foundation walls. By implementing both a new block wall and concrete footing we would be able to properly reinforce the wall and permanently relieve the home of its bowing wall issue due to the stability and rigidity of it now.
25 years ago we installed our patented CleanSpace throughout the entirety of this home's crawl space. Now 25 years later they called us back to take care of their foundation and humidity issues that they were having.
The main issue that they had called us about originally was for their foundation and humidity issues, but to fix the problems at hand we had to remove a majority of the work we had done 25 years ago and replace it to remove the old supports, and install our new support systems. In doing so all of the issues they were having would be alleviated and would make this home like new.
For us to take care of the foundation issues we started by supporting the home to pull out and replace all of their block supports throughout the entire crawl space, we then strategically installed a total of 30 SmartJacks throughout the crawl space, all of which would tie directly into the main girder and our newly installed steel i-beam. We then removed their old inefficient sump pump system and installed our SmartSump with a 35-foot discharge line.
After installing our sump pump system we then installed our drain matting underneath our new CleanSpace. Because in the back section of the crawl space we did not need to remove and replace our old CleanSpace we only laid it throughout the main section and the right section of their crawl space past the chimney. Once this was completed we installed our Everlast door in their existing basement entryway so they could have full access to check on things, as well as store any belongings that they would like to in their new space.
Finally, before completing our project, we installed our patented BasementAire Dehumidification system, this system will help to keep the humidity in their crawl space and home as low as possible due to its proprietary hourly air sampling system. Overall the homeowner could not have been more ecstatic about the outcome, but more importantly to them that they were able to regain peace of mind and did not have to worry every night when they went to sleep if their home was going to fall over.
These homeowners contacted Basement Systems of New York because they noticed that their block foundation wall nearest their sidewalk up to the front door was bowing. Because of the issue, they were having they wanted to repair the damage before it became a bigger headache and cost to fix.
To fix the problem at hand we had to temporarily brace the home from inside the garage in order to make sure that our Installation Specialist were safe throughout the entirety of the project. We then started excavating the earth near their foundation wall in order to gain better access to the foundation wall. Finally, we knocked down part of their old block foundation wall. Once this was completed our Installation Specialist started to rebuild their foundation wall before lowing the home back onto the foundation
Since having us rebuild part of their block foundation these homeowners have noticed that their home feels structurally sound again, as well as the sounds they were hearing before have disappeared. More importantly than anything though they do not have to worry about the home falling down.

This home had bowed walls, as well a flooding problem. Bowed walls compromise the structural integrity of the home, in order to restore structural integrity to the home we installed our patented PowerBrace system. In order to fix the flooding problem occuring in the basement we installed our patented WaterGuard system to stop the water from coming up from the foundation and directing it to the sump pump.
Initially, this homeowner sought assistance from a different contractor to address their sinking home issues. However, the first company, upon starting the project, realized the complexities involved and abandoned the project, leaving the homeowner in a difficult situation. Understandably, the homeowner was hesitant to trust another contractor, having already faced disappointment.
After two years of patiently building trust and rapport with the client, they finally felt confident in our ability to complete the project. During this time, we provided consistent support, answering their questions, and alleviating their concerns.
Our process began by excavating the right side of the home's foundation. This involved digging down eighteen feet to reach the footing, creating space under it. We then utilized hydraulic rams to drive our Stabil-Loc push piers into bedrock or the appropriate strata. Once in place, we applied pressure upwards. This not only halted the home's sinking but also restored it to its original height, preventing future movement.
Moving to the front of the home, we had to first temporarily support the structure before removing the front porch and wall. Once safely supported, we excavated to the required depth. Here, we used pre-construction Stabil-Loc push piers to prevent the foundation from sinking, even without the weight of the structure. Afterward, we poured a new footing and wall, rebuilt the porch, and gently lowered the home.
With the exterior repairs complete, we turned our attention to reinforcing the interior foundation wall. CarbonArmor reinforcements were applied to prevent inward bowing as the exterior soil settled. To address the uneven floors caused by the sinking, we utilized our PolyLevel leveling system, ensuring a smooth, even surface.
To complete the project, we also renewed the sidewalk and graded the yard. Throughout the two-year journey and the project itself, the homeowner had numerous questions and concerns. However, upon project completion, they expressed their satisfaction and relief, knowing that their home was now secure and stable. Our work not only restored their peace of mind but also their confidence in their home's stability.
