A homeowner in Nashua, NH, with a mostly finished basement and a one-year-old child, discovered radon gas levels exceeding 5 pCi/L, surpassing the EPA’s hazard threshold of 4 pCi/L. Initially, no action was taken. After learning about the dangers of radon gas, the homeowner became concerned for their family’s safety and contacted Erickson Foundation Solutions to install a radon mitigation system.
We began the project by creating an extraction point through the foundation, allowing a PVC pipe to funnel radon gas. Next, we installed a radon fan on the exterior of the home to actively draw radon from the soil beneath the foundation. Additional PVC piping was then extended from the radon fan to surpass the roofline, safely expelling radon gas away from any entry points of the home. Lastly, we sealed all foundation cracks to further prevent radon from seeping into the basement.
Following the installation, the homeowner can now rest assured that their home is protected from radon gas.
