Bowing Wall Becomes Stabilized in Silvis, IL

Carl recently contacted MidAmerica Basement Systems to have his bowing wall evaluated. During his inspection, it was noted that not one, but two basement walls were bowing inward and needed to be addressed to prevent future worsening. A 10 PowerBrace system was offered to stabilize the failing foundation. The galvanized steel I-Beam system prevents the PowerBraces from oxidizing and rusting over time, giving the foundation the permanent stabilization that is needed. The I-Beam system also offers an opportunity to straighten the wall back to its original position without damaging the wooden floor joist system. Carl now has stabilized walls and no longer worries of a failing foundation.

Bowing Wall Repair in Princeton, IA

This Princeton, IA homeowner was concerned about the stability of their basement walls due to inward bowing. To permanently address this issue and prevent further movement, we installed GeoLock wall anchors.

GeoLock is a foundation repair system specifically designed to stabilize bowing basement walls. Here's how it works:

  • Earth Anchors: Heavy-duty anchors are placed deep in stable soil outside the foundation.
  • Steel Rods: These anchors are connected to the bowing wall with long, galvanized steel rods that resist corrosion.
  • Wall Plate: A steel plate is attached to the inside of the basement wall, distributing the pressure from the rod.
  • Tightening Mechanism: The rods can be tightened over time, straightening the wall back to its original position in some cases.

By anchoring the wall to stable soil, GeoLock counteracts the pressure causing the bowing and reinforces the foundation. This minimally disruptive solution can be hidden behind finished basement walls and provides peace of mind for homeowners

SmartJacks Stabilize Sagging Floors in Alexis, IL

Kathy lives in a home that was built in the late 1800’s, and over the years, the floors of the home have begun to slowly sag. Finally, she reached out to MidAmerica Basement Systems to have her situation handled. Mike looked at her issue and proposed her a SmartJack system. SmartJacks are galvanized steel columns that have a load compacity of more than 60,000 pounds making them ideal for stabilizing a home’s sagging floor. The concrete floor is dug up and filled with tightly-compacted crushed stone to provide the proper weight barring exertion needed for each column. Once the holes are filled, the SmartJacks are installed and cemented down to the floor and connected to the girder system. Each SmartJack is tightened to permanently stabilize the floor, and even potentially lift the floors back to level.
