This Seaford, DE homeowner was losing a lot of energy through the metal mesh access panel covering the crawl space. To remedy the situation our Dr. Energy Saver Delmarva team installed the TURTL. The TURTL is an innovative crawl space access system. A space is dug out in the ground so that the TURTL can rest snugly inside. The TURTL allows for a larger, more comfortable entry into the crawl space. It is durable, airtight and watertight. This installation will cut down on this home's energy loss significantly.
This homeowner in Seaford, DE, like many, was experiencing cold rooms in their house during the winter months. The homeowner's major concern when calling Dr. Energy Saver for help was "to make rooms warmer in the winter".
What was causing this homeowner to be uncomfortable in their home their poorly insulated attic. Their attic insulation was old and dirty causing air leaks from within the home. When air leaks from within the home to the attic it is lost. So all of the energy and money the homeowner is spending goes to waste. Poorly insulated attics can have numerous results such as drafts, cold rooms and high electric bills.
Dr. Energy Saver easily solves this problem by first removing the old insulation. Then, the production crew begins to air seal all gaps in the attic floor to prevent any future leaks. Finally, the new TruSoft Cellulose Insulation is installed. With a properly insulated attic the homeowner will start to see quick results such as warmer rooms, less drafts and lower electric bills!

When homeowners in Eden, Maryland noticed their home becoming more and more uncomfortable as the winter season approached, they knew they had to do something about their issue. After finding Dr. Energy Saver online, they gave us a call.
We came out and observed the attic, which had very little insulation up there. This causes the air you're paying to keep the house heated or cooled depending on the time of the year to be dispersed throughout the home, seep into the attic, and then leaving into the outdoors of your home.
Dr. Energy Saver came out and removed what insulation was left, sealed any air penetrations inside of the attic, and then re-insulating the attic. This will keep the home more comfortable not only in the winter, but in the summer time too!
Bryan noticed that some water had leaked in over the liner in the fully encapsulated crawl space of his family’s home. This wasn’t good news but to make the problem worse it also damaged the ductwork in the crawl space.
He called a company that quoted a price to put in a new liner and replace the damaged ductwork. The only problem was after arrival the price originally quoted kept getting higher and higher. At one point the company said they couldn’t even complete all the original work that had been agreed upon.
At Lawson’s we hate to hear these stories, but we were happy that on a recommendation from a coworker, Bryan called us. While we can’t always foresee every issue we come across, we do our best to do a thorough inspection and account for any sort of difficulties that may arise. In Bryan’s case everything was VERY straightforward.
After a thorough inspection we walked Bryan through the steps to fixing his crawl space. In this case we were focusing on two items: (1) Fixing his ground water issues, and (2) controlling the moisture level in the crawl space.
On inspection the amount of standing water was alarming so we recommended not only a sump but a full interior perimeter drainage system. The family plans on staying in the home a long time and wants to make sure that there are no issues again with the ductwork or that mold and microbial growth don't occur. (A drainage system only takes care of the standing water, not necessarily moisture/high humidity.) So we also installed our Clean Space antimicrobial liner and a dehumidifier.
We rarely are the least expensive quote when it comes to the work we do, but we were glad that Bryan and his family saw the value in a permanent fix to their problem. As we already mentioned, we can't forsee every challenge we come across, but like in most of our contracts, the price originally quoted was the price Bryan ended up paying, no hidden or surprise charges.
