This homeowner in South Deerfield, MA called us out to their home for a Home Energy Evaluation. This home had some old, inefficient fiberglass without air any sealing in their attic. This allows conditioned or heated air that is paid for to escape the home.
We first removed all of the old, fiberglass insulation and properly disposed of the materials. We air seal all top plates, end plated, and any areas where air can escape from the home into the attic and be lost with foam. This homeowner wanted to be able to still have a storage area so we built them an insulated catwalk space for them. Now, blow our TruSoft Cellulose insulation into the attic. Cellulose will fill in any odd-shaped voids and gaps. Now, thanks to Fogarty's Home Services, this home will have more even temperatures, and is more energy efficient!
This homeowner in South Deerfield, MA called us looking to remove and replace his old insulation. The insulation was low quality, and the homeowner was hoping that new blown-in insulation would help make his home more comfortable.
Our team started with removing the old blown-in insulation. The loose insulation was vacuumed out into giant filter bags with a very long hose. We then air sealed the entire attic using our ZypFoam treatment, and insulated the chimney and scuttle cover. We also installed baffles to ensure proper ventilation.
Once the entire attic was clean and sealed, it was time to install our own TruSoft™ cellulose insulation. Luckily for the homeowner, blown in insulation fills all gaps and odd shaped voids. Their home will stay comfortable for years to come!
This Amston, CT homeowner reached out to Fogarty's Home Services concerned about their attic space. They were using this space for storage, but it wasn't energy efficient. Their attic floor was allowing air from inside the house to leak into the attic where it was lost. For each cubic foot of air that leaks out, a cubic foot of air from the outside enters the bottom of the house, making the lower levels cold and drafty. Their attic was a hostile environment because of the increased cold in the winter and very uncomfortable heat in the summer in this space. To combat this issue, Fogarty's Home Services installed our SuperAttic™ system. We use SilverGlo™ EPS foam insulation board with graphite on the underside of the roof deck. The graphite gives it superior R-value and a foil face on both sides reflects heat out in summer and back in during winter. The roof is still vented. No harsh chemicals are sprayed in your home, like spray foam. The attic is now part of the conditioned space in the home, and ducts in the attic are no longer in a hostile environment. The attic is clean, less dusty and suitable for storage. We Fix Uncomfortable Homes!
This homeowner in Deerfield, MA had been living with ineffective insulation and finally reached us when she realized it was not doing as good of a job insulating the home as it could have been.
We removed the old, soiled insulation and now with a fresh clean slate, we can go in and seal any air leaks that were previously buried under the batts of insulation, which did nothing to stop the the convective loop of heated air from inside the home. We then blew in 20 inches of our TruSoft cellulose, which over the following days settles down to 17 inches, or R70.
Thanks to Dr. Energy Saver by Eco Energy Solutions, this home will be far easier to heat and keep comfortable this winter.
This homeowner in Ellington, CT called us out to their home to take a look as some problems that have been experiencing. The problem was their kitchen, their kitchen was very cold and drafty and they could not figure out why. They also had extremely high energy bills due to the amount of heat they were losing. We went to the home to perform a Full Home energy Evaluation to figure out why they were having this issue. We knew we needed to help these customers become more comfortable in a room of their home that they spend a lot of time in. While conducting the Energy Evaluation we noticed that in their basement, directly under their kitchen the walls were full of fiberglass insulation. Fiberglass insulation is soft and fluffy, and allows a great deal of cold air to travel through. Because of this it does not make for a great insulation choice. Air was seeping through this fiberglass and up into this homeowners kitchen, creating a cold and drafty living space. We knew exactly what we had to do to make these homeowners more comfortable, and energy efficient in their home.
The first thing we need to do in this homeowners basement was the nasty task of removing all of the old, fiberglass insulation. We properly bag up and dispose of this insulation and bring it off site. Next, we install our Polyisocyanurate foam insulation board on the basement walls. This isn’t just an ordinary foam board- Polyisocyanurate foam has the flame retardant properties to satisfy building codes to leave it exposed in the basement. It also has a foil facing to reflect heat so that the insulation isn’t doing all the work by itself. We make sure these boards are tightly secured with Dr. Energy Savers proprietary Foam-Tite Fasteners. This will drastically reduce this customers energy bills, and the cold, drafty kitchen.
Thanks to Dr. Energy Saver by Eco Energy Solutions, this homeowner can not live more comfortably, happy, and energy efficient in their home!!
