Radon Awareness Push in Canada Includes Celebrity PSAs
The Lung Association of Canada is gearing up for a big radon education campaign kicking off in November, during the country's Radon Action Month. As part of the push, a series of PSAs starring HGTV host Mike Holmes will air on television stations across the country.
While Holmes was filming the PSA in the Niagara area, he told a tv station, "Think of yourself, think of your friends, think of your family... this is something we need to pay attention to." You can see the story Holmes did here.
The Lung Association of Canada is encouraging education on radon because:
- about 7% of Canadians are living in homes with high radon levels.
- no region of Canada is "radon-free"
- 16% of lung cancer deaths in Canada are radon related.
